This training offers a broad overview of child development and essential health and safety practices for children from birth through age five. Participants will explore developmental domains—cognitive, language, physical, and social-emotional—and examine t he importance of play, nutrition, and developmentally appropriate practices in fostering healthy growth. The training addresses strategies to prevent and control infectious diseases, maintain effective health records and policies, and safely administer medications. Key topics include child wellness, allergy prevention and response, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Participants will also learn to identify and manage common indoor and outdoor hazards, handle hazardous materials safely, and develop emergency plans for natural and human-caused events.

This training covers the Illinois licensing training topic: Anaphylactic Shock, as referenced in Regulation Child Care Act 5.11. Completion of this training satisfies that requirement.
